Bush Yam Dreaming – Louise Numina

This painting by Louise Numina is her Dreaming about the bush yams. She has painted a really lovely piece using a range of colours to show the Yams in the ground. The swirls and movement show the travelling across country the women and young girls do to find these yams and dig them up. They are cooked whole over an open fire. These yams are rather like our sweet potatoes.
