Tingari Cycle – Willy Tjungurrayi

Willy has painted his sacred “Tingari Dreaming” here. He is a very famous artist from Central Australia. Lineal work in bright orange, with cream dotting on a black background.

Tingari dates back to the beginning of creation, when the Tingari ancestors created everything that is here today- The mountains, valley, and rivers etc. The sacred sites represent areas where ceremonies were carried out, before moving on.

Willy was born at Patjantja bin 1930 in the area of Wilkinkarra(lake Mackay) before he moved to Haasts Bluff(which is called Papunya). He is also known for his famous Snake and Tali Dreaming artworks.

Willy is an elder in his tribe, and highly respected. A great work from this older gentleman.
