Description

Gary Reid, known by his aboriginal name of Muntu Mai, has painted the “Wat Ngintaka” story.

This is a story about the “Man Goanna” Wati Ngintaka, who stole the grinding stones and ran away with them. He took them from a place called Walatina in South Australia. He then ran with them to a place called Uran in Western Australia. He was found and killed there, and the grinding stones recovered. He was turned into part of the mountain, and to this day he can be seen in the mountain at Uran. This is a warning to others not to steal.
